Hi Mark,
It shouldn't be too difficult to wrap. Depending on how and where you want to wrap the stone, you might want to consider using half round (round on one side and flat on the other,) You can secure the wire by using a loop that you can close, or by simply crimping the wire tightly against itself. I have never had one come unwrapped, even when using the crimp style of fastening.

mine is a question rather than a comment. I want to wrap gold around a hand hewned peice of jade that I have fashioned into a masculine style ring, I want it to be permanet , not unravel, and to be secured to the jade in some manner can you help with some ideas, I am new to rock shaping and even newer to gold wrapping, But i am persistant. help please

Take a look in the Gallery - there are a couple of pieces that use a simple wrap - nothing fancy, and are very easy to figure out from the pictures. Perfect for a man - just use a heavy gauge wire ;)

I'm looking for directions on how to take a Tigers Eye stone and make a pendant for a man to hang on a chain. Any ideas...everywhere I've looked it's been too detailed. I've never wire wraped but I know I don't want something to fancy for a guy...please help ? My email is [email protected]

I know what it is to work with these children. It can be extremely difficult and stressful at the same time. I commend anyone for taking the time to invest their time in them.
